Gold Jewelry - Italy Cameo 35mm Antique Face Cameo with Peridot Border

Be refreshingly different when you wear this cameo with peridot bead border ring in 14K gold. This pin/pendant features an oval shaped cornelian shell cameo (approx. 35x27mm) bezel set in a gold frame with round peridot (approx. 3mm) beads bordering the setting. A polished bead accents the bottom of the frame. This has a hinged bail and a hinged bar pin with a C closure.

The cameo is carved with an image of a Greek-Roman style Lady. The flowers, the earrings, the threads and the intricacy of the hair, makes us dream of an aristocratic woman of Imperial Rome (1st Century A.D.), when women were very sophisticated in their ornaments, beauty and elegance.

It was carved by Giuseppe Borriello, a 71 year old master who spent his entire life among shells and cameos. His way of carving is the so called "old style", which means that his pieces are made with an ancient technique making the production of this artist extremely limited. His cameos could easily be confused with antique pieces from the 1800's because the way they are intricately carved reminds of one of the beautiful pieces of the Victorian times.
